Ehren-Dekret von Iasos für Teleutias aus Kos

ἔδοξε τῇ βουλῇ καὶ τῶι δήμωι, πρυτάνεωνγνώμηι· περὶ ὧν ἐπῆλθον προστάται καὶ στρα–τηγοί· ἐπειδὴ Τελευτίας Θευδώρου Κῶιοςἀνὴρ καλὸς καὶ ἀγαθός ἐστιν εἰς τὴν πόλινκαὶ ἰδίαι τε τοῖς ἐντυνχάνουσι τῶν πολιτ<ῶ>νεὐχρηστῶν διατελεῖ καὶ κατὰ κοινὸν παντὶτῶι δήμωι εὔνους ὑπάρχει, ἀεί τι καὶ λέγωνκαὶ πράσσων ὑπὲρ τοῦ πλήθους, ἵνα ἐπαινεθῇτε ὑπὸ τῆς βουλῆς καὶ τοῦ δήμου καὶ στεφανω̣–θῇ χρυσῶι στεφάνωι ἀπὸ πλήθους ὅσουπλίστου ἔξεστι ἐκ τῶν νόμων, γένηται δὲκαὶ πρόξενος τῆς πό<λ>εως, δοθῆι δὲ αὐτῶι κα[ὶ]πολιτεία〚ν〛 μετέχοντι πάντων ὧν καὶ τοῖς ἄλ–λοις πολίταις μέτεστιν, τὰ δὲ αὐτὰ ὑπάρχῃ τίμ[ι]–α καὶ τοῖς ἐκγόνοις αὐτοῦ, ὑπάρχῃ δὲ αὐτῷ καὶπροεδρία ἐν τοῖς ἀγῶσι πᾶσι οἷς ἡ πόλις τίθ[η]–σι, καὶ ἵνα ὁ ἀγωνοθέτης ἐπιμελὲς ποιήσητα̣[ι]ὅπως ἀνανγελ⟦ῇ ὁ σ τ⟧έφανος, ὧι τετίμη–ται Τελευτίας, ἐν τοῖς πρώτοις Διονυσίο[ις],δεδόχθαι Ἰασεῦσι· ἐπαινέσαι ΤελευτίανΘευδώρου Κῶιον εὐνοίας ἕνεκε τῆς εἰς τὴν [πό]–λιν καὶ στεφανῶσαι χρυσέωι στεφάνωι̣ [ἀπὸ]πλήθους ὅσου πλείστου ἔξεστιν ἐκ τῶν ν[ό]–μων ἀρετῆς ἕνεκεν καὶ εὐνοίας τῆς εvac.ἰ[ς]τὸ πλῆθος τὸ Ἰασέων, εἶναι δὲ καὶ προεδρίαν ἐ[ν]τοῖς ἀγῶσι πᾶσι, ὑπάρχειν δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ πρόξεν[ον]τῆς πόλεως, δεδόσθαι δὲ αὐτῶι καὶ πολιτείαν μ[ε]–τέχοντι πάντων ὧν καὶ τοῖς ἄλλοις πολίταις μέ–τεστι, ἐπικληρῶσαι δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπὶ φυλὴν ἐν τ[οῖς]ἐννόμοις χρόνοις, τὰ δὲ αὐτὰ ὑπάρχειν καὶ τοῖς ἐκ̣[γό]–νοις αὐτοῦ, τὸν δὲ ἀγωνοθέτην ἐπιμελὲς πο[ιή]–σασθαι ὅπως ἀνανγελῇ ὁ στέφανος, ὧι τετίμη[ται]Τελευτίας, τῆς ἀνανγελίας γινομένης ἐντοῖ<ς> πρῶτοις Διονυσίοις μετὰ τὴν πομπήν· ἵνα [δὲ]καὶ Κῶιοι εἰδήσωσι τὴν Τελευτία καλοκἀγαθίαν [καὶ]τὴν Ἰασέων εὐχαριστίαν, ἑλέσθαι πρεσβευτ[ήν],τὸν δὲ αἱρεθέντα ἀφικόμενον πρὸς Κώιους πε[ρί τε]τῆς Τελευτία καλοκἀγαθίας καὶ τῆς πρὸς τὸvν [δῆ]–μον εὐνοίας ἐνφανίσα[ι καὶ πα]ρακαλεῖν οἰκήου̣[ς]καὶ φίλους καὶ συμμά[χους ὑπάρχ]οντας τῆς πό[λ]–[εω]ς̣ φ̣ι̣λ̣ο̣φ̣ρό̣νω̣ς ἀ̣π[οδέξασθαι τὰ] ἐψηφισμέν[α – –]– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Beschluss von Rat und Volk, nach Vorlageder Prytanen, worüber Vorsteher und Strategenvorgetragen haben: Da Teleutias S.d. Theudoros aus Kosein vortrefflicher Mann gegenüber der Stadt ist,privat den ihn ersuchenden Bürgerstets nützlich und insgesamt dem ganzenVolk wohlwollend handelt, immer in Wortund Tat für die Bevölkerung da ist; dass er belobigtwerde von Rat und Volk und bekränztmit goldenem Kranz von dem höchsten nachdem Gesetz möglichen Wert, dass er auch proxenos der Stadt werde, dass ihm gegeben werdeauch das Bürgerrecht und er Anteil habe an allem, woranauch die übrigen Bürger Anteil haben; dass dieselben Ehrungenauch seinen Nachkommen sein sollen; dass ihm auchein Ehrenplatz sein soll bei allen Spielen, die die Stadtveranstaltet, und dass der Veranstalter der Spiele Sorge trage,dass verkündet werde der Kranz, mit dem Teleutiasgeehrt wird, an den nächsten Dionysien,wollen die Iaser beschließen: dass man belobige TeleutiasS.d. Theudoros aus Kos wegen seines Wohlwollens gegenüber derStadt und bekränze mit goldenem Kranz von demhöchsten nach dem Gesetz möglichen Wertwegen seiner Leistung und seinem Wohlwollen gegenüberder Bevölkerung von Iasos; dass ihm auch ein Ehrenplatzsei bei allen Spielen; dass er auch proxenos derStadt sei; dass man ihm auch das Bürgerrecht gebenund er Anteil haben soll an allem, woran auch die übrigen BürgerAnteil haben; dass man ihn auch durch Los zuteile in eine Phyleinnerhalb der gesetzlichen Frist; dass dasselbe auch für seine Nachkommensein soll; dass der Veranstalter der Spiele Sorgetrage, dass verkündet werde der Kranz, mit dem Teleutiasgeehrt wird, wobei die Verkündung geschehen sollan den nächsten Dionysien nach dem Festzug; damit auchdie Koer die Vortrefflichkeit des Teleutias und den Dankder Iaser erfahren, dass man einen Gesandten wähle,und dass der Gewählte nach seiner Ankunft bei den Koern überVortrefflichkeit des Teleutias über und sein Wohlwollengegenüber der Stadt berichte und sie bitte als Verwandteund Freunde und Verbündete der Stadtdas, was von uns beschlossen wurde, wohlwollend zu billigen- - -

It was decreed by the council and people, proposalof the prytanies, on the matters on which the prostatai andgenerals came forward: inasmuch as Teleutias son of Theudoros, Koan,is a good and honorable man toward the cityand is serviceable individually towards those citizens who encounter himand collectively acts with good willto the whole people, always sayingand doing something in behalf of the populace; so that he be praisedby the council and people and crownedwith a gold crown of the highest valuepermitted by the laws; that he also becomea proxenos of the city; that he also be givencitizenship, sharing all the things that the othercitizens share; that the same honors belongalso to his descendants; that he also havefront-row seating at all the contests that the city holds,and the agonothete see to itthat the crown with which Teleutias has been honored isproclaimed at the next Dionysia,it has been decreed by the Iasians: to praise Teleutiasson of Theudoros, Koan, for his good will toward thecity and to crown him with a gold crown of thehighest value permitted by the lawsfor his excellence and his good will towardthe populace of the Iasians; he is to have front-row seating atall the contests; and he is to be a proxenosof the city; he is also to be given citizenship,sharing all the things that the other citizensshare, to allot him to a tribe at therequisite times; the same things are to belong to hisdescendants; the agonothete is to see to itthat the crown with which Teleutias hs been honoredis proclaimed, the proclamation to be atthe next Dionysia after the procession; so thatthe Koans may know the excellence of Teleutias andgratitude of the Iasians, to elect an ambassador,and the one elected is to go to the Koans and resport concerningthe excellence of Teleutias and his good willtoward the people and call upon them, being intimatesand friends and allies of the city,to accept in good spirit the things voted - - -- - -
